Lag Ba’omer, traditional festival day, was celebrated by large crowds throughout the entire country yesterday, and particularly in Jerusalem. Large banners with inscriptions bearing the reply of the Jewish National Home to the burning of Jewish books in Germany were a feature of the celebration.

Banners were unfurled paraphrasing the biblical story of the burning bush, “The book is in flames but it is not consumed.”

Emanuel Neumann, American member of the Palestine executive of the Jewish Agency, in a speech here, declared that “Jewish Palestine welcomes home the spiritual creations of Jewish genius, even those hitherto denied association with the Jewish people.”
