Albert Bannermann, famous German actor, was suddenly dismissed from the Berliner State Theatre because he was denounced to the Nazi Party as being of Jewish origin. Bannermann had assumed the main role in the Nazi play by Hans Johst “Schlageter,” which was put on at the theatre as soon as the Nazis came into power. His dismissal holds until the newly organized racial bureau establishes whether the denunciation of Bannermann is founded.
A scheduled broadcast of the play last night was cancelled.
