Untermyer to Address Women’s Boycott Meeting

Samuel Untermyer will address more than 2,000 women at a conference at the Hotel Astor here next Tuesday afternoon. The purpose of the meeting will be to launch a nation-wide boycott among the women in this country of German goods and services. The conference is sponsored by the Women’s Division of the American League for the Defense of Jewish Rights. Mrs. Mark Harris is chairman, Mrs. Julius Ferber and Mrs. Peter Schweitzer are vice-chairmen.

The committee plans to concentrate on organizing a consumers’ boycott of German products. They will ask that purchasers show preference for American goods wherever possible as substitutes for the banned German products.

Among the organizations that will be represented at the conference are: Federation of Jewish Women’s Organizations, Hadassah, Daughters of Israel, Daughters of Jacob, New York Auxiliary of the Consumptive Relief Association of Denver, New York Physicians’ Wives’ League, Children’s Welfare League, Women’s League of Palestine, Ladies’ Auxiliaries of the Jewish Workmen’s Circle, Jewish National Workers, Hebrew National Orphan Home, Ivriah, Joshua Ladies, Jewish Pythian Sisters, Young Judea, Jewish Women of America, Hias, and the Palestine Lighthouse for the Blind.
