The League of Nations Mandates Commission began discussion of the Palestine mandate today in a private session. It was learned that members of the commission addressed a number of inquiries to Mark Aicheson Young, retiring chief secretary of the Palestine Government who is representing the administration here prior to taking up his new duties as governor of the Barbados Islands. These questions revolved around the possibility of German Jewish immigration into Palestine and about the progress made in working out a legislative form of government.
Referring to the possibilities of Transjordanian settlement by Jews, Mr. Young stated that while individual Jewish immigration into Transjordania might be considered, larger scale settlement could not be on account of the absence of conditions of security.
