An impressive ceremony of thanksgiving today accompanied the installation in the Madrid Synagogue of a valuable old Sefer Torah (holy scrolls) brought to Spain for safekeeping by a German-Jewish refugee. The synagogue was filled with worshippers when the formal handing over of the Sefer Torah took place.

Many persons at the ceremony saw it as a symbolic act, reminding them of the time when Jews once were expelled from Spain and Sefer Torahs were carried, homeless, from land to land. Now they have all been brought back to this country.
