Details of the proposed Palestine loan, reported to be for at least two million pounds, will be divulged in the House of Commons Friday, Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister, Colonial Secretary, disclosed today in reply to queries from Josiah Wedgewood on how the loan would be allocated, with particular bearing on the productivity of the capital to be invested in the loan.
Sir Philip’s statement will be made in connection with the debate on the Colonial Office budget and a lengthy discussion on Palestine generally is expected.
The Colonial Secretary also declared yesterday that the Palestine Government contemplates the appointment of a Palestine committee to investigate the child marriage situation which was described by Miss Elinor Rathbone, who demanded that marriage of girls under 13 years of age be prohibited.
