The case of Erwin Rosenberg, prominent lawyer here and one of the leaders of the local Jewish community, is upsetting the Jewish population of Berlin. Rosenberg was reinstated to the practice of law after he had proved to the Nazis that he was a war veteran. That was last week.

On Monday, when Rosenberg reappeared in the court for the first time since his dismissal, he was dragged out of the courtroom by uniformed Nazi storm troopers. Rosenberg was carried off to a cellar in a building owned by the Nazis and severely beaten. The attack lasted several hours.

His frantic relatives and friends asked the assistance of the police in their search for him, and though the police helped somewhat, the results of the search were fruitless until last night. Rosenberg was suddenly found in the street unconscious and badly beaten. His whole body was bruised. He was taken to his home, where he must remain some time under the doctor’s care.
