Edward Corsi, Commissioner of Immigration at Ellis Island, stated yesterday that he has sent his resignation to Secretary of Labor Frances Perkins.

Presumably it will take effect at once, for at midnight the Immigration Department of which he is an officer, lost its identity in a merger and became the Department of Immigration and Naturalization.

Commissioner Corsi gave no specific reason for his resignation. He was appointed Immigration Commissioner by President Hoover on October 8, 1931.
