A delegation of leading Jewish citizens has called upon Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope, High Commissioner of Palestine, to urge him to publish an ordinance regulating observance of the Sabbath in Palestine and the daily closing of shops in Jewish localities, particularly Tel Aviv. The High Commissioner was reported sympathetic to the request.
The delegation was composed of M. Dizengoff, mayor of Tel Aviv; Rabbi A. I. Ha’cohen Kook, chief rabbi of Palestine; Rabbi B. Z. Uziel, member of the Vaad Leumi (Jewish National Council); I. Ben-Zvi, newly-elected member of the Palestine executive of the Jewish Agency, and Rabbi Aronson.
