An editorial attack on efforts to organize swastika clubs in Canada was made here in the influential Montreal Star under the caption, “No Hitlerism in Canada.”
Referring to press reports of “a new organization strongly anti-Semitic with aims to produce a Dominion-wide movement against those who unscrupulouly hinder the advancement of Gentile rights in our country,” the Star calls it the “clear duty of Canadian governments, whether provincial or federal, to find out just how much truth is in the story. If any such organization,” it goes on, “exists, it should be dealt with exactly as should any similar body which has for its supreme objects, the carrying out of racial or religious conflicts in Canada.”
