Children’s Welfare League, the Women’s Division of the Jewish Center of the East Side, of which Mrs. Gabriel Hamburger is chairman, is an organization which has done exceptional work during the summer for the children of the lower East Side, by providing meals for them daily. “Through the use of our showers,” says Mrs. Hamburger, “many parents and children have obtained relief during the hot summer months.” Playground facilities were provided for those who were unable to be sent away to camps.
