The Vaad Ha-Ir, the Council of Orthodox Jews of Detroit, is conducting a strike against the chicken killers (chochtei oifois), in a demand that they reduce the present price of 10c for the killing of each chicken.

In order to advance this strike, a number of meetings were held in local synagogues, and in the Oakland section a mild riot broke out when an attempt was made by the leaders of the Schochtim Union to take away the knives from those schochtim who reduced their price to 5 cents.
