An Italian strike, meaning cessation of work but with workers remaining at their posts, was declared here by all of the Warsaw Jewish community institutions, including schools, because long overdue salaries remain unpaid.

If the demonstrative strike is without results, a proper walkout strike will be declared.

Prior to the declaration of the strike, a delegation of community officials paid a visit to Elijah Mazur, president of the Warsaw community, demanding payment of the 400,000 zloty which is due to officials. A down payment of 100,000 zloty was asked before the high holidays, but Mazur was unable to guarantee that he would meet the sum. Officials declared that the community had an increase of 30,000 zlotys over last year’s income.
