Governor Julius Meier was smilingly unconcerned when interviewed by a representative of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency on the filing of a preliminary recall petition against him. The petition was initiated by a country store keeper, F. W. Stevens, and charges Governor Meier with incompetence.
Informed circles here discount the possibility of success for the recall petition, since 80,000 signatures must be obtained by the initiators before January 1, and the Governor’s ### as a tax reducer and businessman’s Governor, will make it exceedingly hard to obtain signatures.
It is thought here that the real reason for the recall is the fight now going on over the truck law.
