Jewry of this city will open its first annual campaign Dec. 4 for funds to maintain and operate Hebrew schools having over 1,000 pupils from kindergarten to high school ages. Hitherto, these institutions had been supported by the Federated Jewish Charities, but this year the philanthropic sections of the Federation were merged with the Community Fund. Robert A. Hess is chairman of the drive. No quota has been set, though an attempt will be made to raise the $16,000 expended by the schools during the past year.
A total of $15,000 has been raised in Milwaukee for the relief of German victims of anti-Semitism, A. L. Saltzstein, chairman, has announced. This is part of the fund being collected by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. Another $10,000 will be sought in Milwaukee, Mr. Saltzstein said.
