Customs among Chinese so closely resembling those in vogue among Jews as to be virtually identical were described here by Madame Pearl Metzelthin, who spent several years in China as the wife of a diplomat.
She gave several instances of rites practiced among sects of Chinese closely paralleling ceremonies among orthodox Jews.
A world traveler, Madame Metzelthin declared she has found in no other land a philosophy and mode so closely akin to that of the universal Jew as exists in China.
Describing a trip to the Tibetan Plateau, she said it was there she saw the greatest likeness between certain Chinese and Jews. She found there a scroll in Hebrew and two huge stones with Hebrew inscriptions.
