An explanation to the public press was forthcoming this afternoon from Dr. Kurt Schmitt, Reich Minister of Economics, regarding his stricture against discriminating against Jewish business establishments.
The Cabinet member said that it is essential to keep the interests of the Fatherland above all else. It is necessary, he insisted, to use every individual and every opportunity to develop the German economic system and encourage the restoration of prosperity. It would be inconsistent, therefore, he maintained, to discriminate against persons who have economic status.
