Terracotta Roman busts and oil lamps were found in a cave uncovered accidentally here by workingmen engaged on constructing a road.

Hundreds of such busts were excavated by Department of Antiquities officials, including many of great artistic taste. In some cases, the original colors were preserved.

The finds date from approximately the second or third century A.D. It is believed that the cave was the storehouse for some Roman temple near by.
