A special committee in New York of which Lazare Saminsky is chairman and Ernest Bloch, Ossip Ga-Gabrielowitsch, Arnold schoenberg, Misha Elman, Joseph Achron and Joseph Yasser are members, have formulated a plan for the organization of a musical faculty at the University of Jerusalem in Palestine.

The plan embraces the creation of two departments of musical education and research, the latter to occupy itself particularly with the recording and studying of the old Biblical chants used by the old Hebrew tribes. This work is especially important for the establishing of the link between early Christian and early Hebrew sacred music and for the whole problem of the origin of Eurpean music as well. Mr Sarminsky has forwarded the complete report of his committee to Dr. Judah L. Magnes, chancellor of the University, and to Dr. A. S. W. Rosenbach, preesident of the American Friends fo the University of Jerusalem.
