Sentences of two months to six months were meted, out to four local radical leaders on rioting charges as a result of their participation in the anti-fascist demonstration when Dr. Hans Luther, German Ambassador, stopped of in Milwaukee. The sentences were imposed by Circuit Judge A. H. Reid.
Counsel for the four announced an appeal would be carried to the State Supreme Court. Harry Yaris, one of the quartet, in a speech before being sentenced charged police with suppressing free speech and pionted out that “to us Dr. Luther was not a visiting dignitary, but the representative of a murdering nation.L”
