Lithuanian Jews Seek to Return from Bureya

Lithuanian Jewish emigrants to Bureya, the region in Siberia set aside by Soviet Russia for establishment of an autonomous Jewish republic, have appeared at the Lithuanian embassy at Moscow to seek aid in returning to their former homes here, it was learned today. The disappointed emigrants explained that the situation in Bureya was hopeless and that settlers there had to encounter hunger and epidemics.

The return of these immigrants to Lithuania will be difficult, it is learned, because they had to surrender their Lithuanian citizenship, according to the regulations, when they departed for Bureya.
