The body of Dr. Leo Motzkin, noted Zionist leader who died here on November 7 at the age of 66, will be sent to Palestine today after a brief commemorative ceremony at the railroad station.
Dr. Motzkin, a noted Jewish statesman, was considered the outstanding protagonist of the nationalist conception of Jewish minority rights. For more than twenty years Dr. Motzkin was present at every international gathering where matters pertaining to the Jews were under consideration. At all of these he fought earnestly for his conception of the Jews as a national minority with their religious and cultural development safeguarded by international treaties and obligations.
He was present at every Zionist congress, including the first at Basle in 1897. He was president of the Committee of Jewish Delegations and president of the important Zionist Actions Committee. He was almost always chosen to preside at international Jewish gatherings.
Dr. Motzkin had been in ill health for several years and succumbed to a sudden heart attack.
