Brunswick police, in a statement issued after Brunswick Nazi hooligans had painted the windows of Jewish shops with insulting inscriptions in corrosive acid, stated that although the insurance companies were not responsible for damages from acid stains, nevertheless the removal of the stains weakens the windows and ultimately leads to breaking them, for which the insurance companies are responsible. The police, therefore indicated that such affairs reduce German wealth and are undesirable.
