Trenton Lodge, B’rith Sholom, Presses Drive

Trenton City lodge, No. 39, B’rith Sholom, is engaged in a membership drive sponsored by the Booster Club of the lodge.

The purpose of the campaign is to acquaint young Jews with the need for concerted participation under the aegis of an active Jewish fraternity in furthering Jewish ideals and combating anti-Semitic tendencies.

The lodge is urging young men to become active in Jewish affairs, The drive was inaugurated at an open meeting held in the lodge rooms at Areade Hall on East State street April 3.

Among the speakers were Rabbi Mortimer J. Cohen, Joseph P. Klatzkin, president of the lodge, and Peter Littman, secretary.

On Tuesday, April 17, the lodge will hold an open meeting at headquarters. Leon E. Meltzer, attorney, who has been active in Jewish affairs, will speak. He is a member of the executive board of B’rith Sholom, affiliated with the national boycott committee and was chairman of the Philadelphia Protest Meeting against Hitlerism.

Chairman of the committee on arrangements is Herbert Gellis, assisted by Sidney Stark, Morris Balbresky, Joseph Fishberg, and Charles I. Levine.
