The case of the government against the three Revisionists, Aba Achimeier, Zvi Rosenblatt and Abraham Stavsky, was greatly weakened this afternoon when Shloime Weisberg, expert official police tracker, who was testifying as to the shoes worn by the accused, suddenly asked the court to be allowed to make a voluntary statement.
Granted permission by the court Weisberg declared that although there was a great resemblance between the footprints at the scene of the murder and those of Stavsky, nevertheless the footprints at the spot where Dr. Arlosoroff was shot might have been those of another person.
Weisberg added that there were no indications on which definite proof that the footprints were made by Stavsky’s shoes might be based.
Another sensation was created in the court when Weisberg, during cross-examination by defense attorney Horace Samuel, disclosed that Chief Investigator Rice called him into a three and a half hour conference yesterday on the testimony he was to give today. The cross-examination of Weisberg by Samuel will continue tomorrow.
Earlier in the day his evidence was limited to explaining to the court technical details, such as the length and width of Rosenblatt’s and Stavsky’s shoes.
Police officer Coller, another footprint expert, also testified and gave similar technical explanations.
