Jewish Big Brothers Hold Annual Meeting at Y. M. H. A. Home

The annual dinner meeting of the Jewish Big Brothers was held last night at the Young Men’s Hebrew Association, Ninety-second street and Lexington avenue.

Herbert Lippman, toastmaster, introduced Harold L. Bache, chairman of the Jewish Big Brothers, and the guest speakers: Stanley Howe, Deputy Commissioner of Public Welfare; Prof. Frederic M. Thrasher of New York University, author of “The Gang,” a Chicago survey, who discussed “The Big Brother and Crime Prevention”; and George Z. Medalie, president of the Jewish Board of Guardians. Gizella Angelus, pianist, entertained.

The Jewish Big Brothers is part of the Jewish Board of Guardians, an agency for the treatment of problem children and the prevention of delinquency. The Big Brothers are volunteer workers co-operating with the professional staff in the individual treatment program. Officers of the Big Brothers are: Harold L. Bache, chairman; Herbert Lippman, vice-chairman; Arthur J. Goldsmith, treasurer, and Isidore Gandal, executive secretary.
