Contributors to the Zionist funds, the Jewish National Fund and the Keren Hayesod, and workers for the Zionist cause will henceforth be granted preferential treatment in the distribution of Palestine immigration certificates, it was announced by the Immigration and Labor Department of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, according to the Jewish National Fund of America.
This ruling, issued in accordance with a decision of the Zionist General Council at its last session at Jerusalem, approves the principle of preferential treatment to candidates who had worked for the Palestine funds.
The Department, however, declares that “it goes without saying that Eretz Israel is open to all Jews. This does not mean. however,” the statement continues, “that we should treat in exactly the same manner the man who has devoted time and money to our cause, and the man who never made any effort to assist us in our task.”
THREE KEY QUERIES
The Palestine offices of the Jewish Agency will insert the following questions on their immigration forms, Which must be answered by all applicants for Labor Immigration certificates:
1-Have you contributed to the Keren Hayesod-if so, when and how much?
2-Have you worked for the Keren Kayemeth-if so, in what capacity?
3-Have you taken part in any other Zionist work?
After replies by the applicant to the questions are found satisfactory, answers to the above three questions will determine the preference to be accorded, the announcement says.
