The only surviving member of Professor Alfred Wegener’s Arctic expedition of 1930-31, who was dismissed from his post as geographer in a German institution because of his Jewish blood, is one of the neediest cases for whom relief funds are being sought, it was revealed Friday by the United Jewish Appeal.
Now thirty-nine years old, he has been with numerous Arctic expeditions and was so severely wounded during the Wegener #ip that his feet were amputated as a result.
Another notable refugee is a former member of the Prussian State Council.
