Sightless since infancy and further handicapped by infantile paralysis, Manuel Rubin of this city overcame these seemingly unsurmountable disabilities to win highest honors in the graduating class of seventy at the New England Conservatory of Music.

He has made several radio and concert appearances and has composed works for the piano, a course which he mastered at the conservatory, and for string quartettes.

He entered the Perkins Institute for the Blind previous to his conservatory course and during his last three years at the institute acted as instructor in subjects requiring the use of Braille.
