A comprehensive library of eleven hundred volumes in the field of dentistry, described by authorities as the “most valuable contribution ever received by the dental department,” was donated to the Hebrew University library in Jerusalem by Kurt Moral, it was announced here yesterday by the American Friends of the Hebrew University.
The contribution was presented by Mr. Moral, formerly of Berlin, now of Istanbul, in memory of his brother, the late Professor Hans Moral.
The collection was formerly the possession of the late Professor Moral, who until his death in 1933 was Professor of Dentistry at the University of Rostock, Germany. It contains all important publications in the field of dentistry which have appeared in Germany during the last ten years, according to word received here by the American Friends from Dr. Hugo Bergmann, librarian at the University in Jerusalem.
In addition to the German works, the library of Dr. Moral, which included a large number of pamphlets and reprints besides the books, contains many standard works in English, French and Italian, and is said to be especially rich in dental journals comprising almost the whole of the important scientific and professional literature of these countries.
Announcement was also made of an additional gift to the Hebrew University Library. Two cases of books were received from Dr. Henry Isaac Wachtel of New York City, founder of the Wachtel Dental Clinic in Jerusalem. This latter gift, Dr. Bergmann said, contains newly published important works in English and a number of recent German works in dentistry.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
