tional democratic group, receiving its mandate from all ranks of the Jewish population, which shall serve as the one central representative body of American Jewry to deal with its problems.

The democratization of Jewish life in this country is to be patterned after the American model, it is stated.

AN EMERGENCY MEASURE

National elections have been called as an emergency measure in the light of developments in this country affecting Jews and problems confronting Jews the world over, with which American Jewry, as the largest Jewish community in the world, is expected to cope as well.

Many problems of economic, social, political and cultural natures, which have been dormant, have reached an acute stage as result of the general economic crisis, coupled with the rise of Nazism, the American Jewish Congress points out. Since these problems affect the future and the pattern of Jewish life and cannot be solved by any one group alone, the action of a united American Jewry, speaking through its elected representatives, is deemed necessary.
