The former commander of the Gunzenhausen storm troopers, Baer, who was sentenced to serve a term in prison for his part in the Gunzenhausen pogroms, shot and fatally wounded Simon Straus and seriously wounded Straus’s son because the elder Straus had testified against Baer and eighteen storm troop defendants, the London Times reports today.
Baer following the trial was deposed as Nazi leader and had not yet begun to serve his sentence although the trial was concluded a month ago.
