The contention that they were forced to enter Palestine illegally because they failed to secure visas and that they had fied Russia because they were starving and destitute, failed to prevent Magistrate Curry from sentencing a family of nine Bokharran Jews to serve two months in jail and to be deported.

A similar sentence was imposed on four Syrian Jews who also entered Palestine illegally.
