An official police communique yesterday admitted publicly for the first time that groups of Arabs are being used to watch the Palestine coast to prevent the landing of Jews without immigration certificates. The communique also revealed that an Arab civilian was left in charge of a party of Jews while a police patrol near Wadi-Hawareth went to the station to report. The Jews who were detained were later identified as legal residents of the districts and were freed.

The statement does not suggest that any measures will be taken against Arab spying. Meanwhile attempts of Jews, particularly from Syria and Egypt, to enter the country without permits are reported daily.
