Mt. Sinai Hospital incurred a deficit of $141,162.90 in its operations last fiscal year, according to its annual report made public yesterday through the United Hospital Fund, of which the hospital is a member.

The seriousness of the financial situation is also increased by diminished income from contributions. “The financial situation in the hospital has given us, and continues to give us, deep concern,” said the report.

“We feel that in times like these it is our duty to disregard the balancing of our budget and to turn no one away from our doors and we have followed this policy during the past year. In doing so we were compelled to dig deep into our capital fund which is none too large and the size of which will not permit similar actions for more than a very limited period,” the report stated.
