Eighty Arabs suspected of implication in the bloody pogroms in the Jewish district were arrested today by the French military. The pogroms raged for two days. Military forces now in control of the city, which is under a state of siege, are on the alert, fearing an immediate renewal of the riots. Authorities are taking the most elaborate precautions against further outbreaks.
More than 100 are dead as a result of the bloody pogroms and riots which swept the Jewish quarter of this city. While detailed lists of the pogrom casualties are unobtainable, authorities believe that most of the dead are Jews.
The riots were renewed last night by Arab pogrom bands, who once more invaded the Jewish district. Four more Jews were added to the death list by the outbreak last night.
At the same time anti-Jewish riots began in the neighboring towns of Hamma, Bizot and Ainbeida. Many Jews are reported to have been killed in the outbreak.
