Reports that the Agudath Israel, ultra-Orthodox Jewish organization, has decided to enter the Palestine legislative council were denied here today by M. Goodman, London representative of the organization.
In a statement to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency Mr. Goodman declared that the world executive body of the organization has the matter under consideration and will act only in accordance with general Jewish opinion, since the matter does not involve religious principles.
Palestine Jewish leaders are strongly opposed to the proposed legislative council, terming it a clear violation of the provisions of the Palestine Mandate. They also point out that the Arab representatives together with the British will constitute a majority opposed to the Jews.
The Palestine government announced that the legislative council will be formed shortly, despite the tremendous amount of opposition the proposal has aroused.
