4 Cities Open Local Drives for Relief Fund

Harry L. Glucksman, chairman of the administrative committee of the United Jewish Appeal, announced here yesterday that a campaign for $7,500 will be inaugurated this evening in Des Moines in which the United Jewish Appeal will participate or $5,000. The campaign is headed by Joseph Brody and Harry Ginsberg, co-chairman, and Morris Mandelbaum, treasurer. The opening meeting will be addressed by Rabbi Ferdinand M. Isserman of St. Louis.

Bangor, Me., and Norfolk, Va., opened United Jewish Appeal campaigns yesterday. Marvin Lowenthal, author and lecturer, addressed the meeting at Bangor where an effort is in progress to raise $3,000 for the relief fund. Michael Pilot is chairman. Associated with him on the campaign committee are Meyer Minskey and Adolph B. Friedman.

Rabbi Louis D. Mendoza is the chairman of the Norfolk appeal for $4,000. Other officers are Dr. Wallace Spigel, Dr. Lewis Berlin and Herbert J. Gerst, vice-chairmen; Mrs. Philip Kroskin, secretary, and Charles Mansbach, treasurer. Mrs. Joseph Polen is chairman of the women’s division.
