Expect 2,000 to Take Part in Youth Pageant

Two thousand youths between the ages of fourteen and twenty are expected to participate in a pageant under the ouspices of the Brotherhood of Youth at Mecca Auditorium, 130 West Fifty-sixth Street, November 14, 15 and 16.

The spectacle, to be called “The pageant under the auspices of the ten by Laurence Gomme, assisted by Miss Florence Cornell, who also will direct production, along with Gale Wessberg. Elmo Russ is preparing the musical score. A symphonic ensemble of 100 girls and boys. will play under the direction of Judge Leopold Prince.

Among the sponsoring committee members are James P. Warburg, Rabbi Sidney E. Goldstein, Judge Prince and Rabbi Alexander Lyons of Brooklyn.

Funds realized from the pageant will be used toward establishment of a “creative youth community,” where, according to spokesmen for the Brotherhood, “boys and girls who wander aimlessly about the country—a group whose numbers reach 300,000—may receive food, shelter, medical attention, educational opportunities and a new outlook on life.”
