The Hebrew Sheltering and Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) reported yesterday that the Paris office of the Hisem gave assistance to 4,050 Jewish refugees from Germany and Jewish migrants generally between January 1 and June 30.
Of the 1,573 German Jewish refugees who were helped by the office, 397 went to Palestine, forty-two to the United States and Canada, 169 to Brazil, nineteen to other South and Central American countries, six to South Africa and six to China.
Help in settling in European countries was extended to 458, as follows: 369 remained in France, twenty-six went to Spain, thirteen to Switzerland, nine to Belgium, one to Denmark and forty to other European lands.
Four hundred and seventy-six were repatriated as follows: 317 returned to Germany, ninety-seven went to Poland, twenty-three to Czechoslovakia, fourteen to Russia and twenty-five to other countries.
