Greek Jewish School to Be Sold for Debts

The only Jewish school in Xanthie, belonging to the Jewish community there, will be sold by auction on November 4 because the community is unable to meets its obligation, it is officially announced today.

The synagogue may also be sold by auction in the near future if the community cannot find sufficient means to redeem the mortgages on the synagogue, it is stated.

The Jewish community in Xanthie is ruined financially, and the Jewish population there is hardly in a position to collect the funds required to pay off the debts incurred by the Jewish communal institutions.
