The presence in England of Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope, High Commissioner of Palestine, in connection with the projected legislative council for Palestine which the Colonial Office now has in draft form, is serving to give renewed impetus to Zionist political activities.

Zionist circles, spurred on by the imminence of government action to create the legislative council, are moving speedily to formulate definitely the Jewish stand on the council and the procedure to be followed in combatting creation of a legislature for Palestine along the lines proposed for the council.

BODY MEETS THIS WEEK

Full power to formulate the Zionist stand on the council was recently entrusted to the political commission of the Actions Committee of the World Zionist Organization. Meetings of this commission will get under way this week.

Meanwhile, determined to obtain a united Zionist front and to end the inter-party strife within the Zionist organization, the executive body of the World Zionist Organization today held conferences with leaders of the General Zionist (centrist) factions of the organization.

Negotiations with the Revisionists, the right-wing faction, which got under way last week, will be continued in the course of the present week.

OPTIMISTIC VIEW TAKEN

Thus far, the negotiators have not disclosed any measure of progress made in the conversations, but informed circles, for the first time since the negotiations were undertaken, expressed optimism over the ultimate results.

It was also learned today that a British delegation, headed by Dr. J. H. Hertz, chief rabbi of the British Empire, wlill be received by General Wauchope within the next few days to discuss Jewish religious problems in Palestine.
