The winter program of the educational department of the Jewish Community Center of this city will open Wednesday evening with the organization meeting of the round table of the Center.
The following Wednesday an address will be given by Sanford Bates, United States superintendent of prisons. His subject will be “Modern Trends in Penology.” On November 7, J. M. Keith of the Department of Justice bureau of investigation will talk on “Modern Trends in Criminology.”
Other speakers on the winter educational program include Dr. Leonard C. White, of the United States Civil Service Commission, Carlisle Bargeron of the Washington Post, Paul Garber of the National Museum, Dr. N. B. Fagin of Johns Hopkins University, and Isadore Hershfield.
Classes in Bible study are being conducted every Tuesday evening by Rabbi Solomon Metz. Dr. Abram Simon is scheduled to conduct an institute of four lectures on “The Philosophy of Judaism.” Other programs are being developed for the boys’ and girls’ clubs of the Center.
