An appeal to Jewry to combat the proposed legislative council in Palestine was delivered by Judge William M. Lewis of Philadelphia, vice president of the Zionist Organization of America, at the second annual conference of the Bronx Zionist Region which closed last night at Elsmere Hall, the Bronx.

Judge Lewis declared that proportional representation of Palestine Jews and Arabs in a legislature would deprive Jewry throughout the world, which looks to Palestine as its homeland, of a voice in Palestine politics.

He urged increased immigration of Jews into Palestine. “Although the admission of 50,000 immigrants last year was a healthful sign,” he said, “the development of the country and the needs of the people demand more.”

Arnold K. Israeli, chairman, said the Bronx Zionist Region will seek to enroll 25,000 persons.

Other speakers were. Dr. Max Lowenthal, Leo Wilson, David Maltin, Rabbi S. G. Kramer, Moses Wortman, Morris E. Zeldin, Dr. S. W. Boorstein, Israel Maltin and Morris Margulies.
