Throughout the ages “there has been a mystic hope in the hearts of the Jews, that some day they might return to Palestine,” said Morris Rothenberg, president of the Zionist Organization of America, addressing the Hunter College Avoukah and memorial societies at their first Balfour Day Celebration.
Tracing the progress of Zionism, Mr. Rothenberg told how Dr. Chaim Weizmann had interested the British statesmen in the establishment of a Jewish national home in Palestine and how it resulted in the issuance of the Balfour Declaration on November 2, 1917.
