An anti-noise campaign is one of the newest wrinkles in this town. Notices have been distributed to automobilists to check their impulse to honk their horns with abandon, and it sounds a good deal quieter hereabouts as a result.

A local society has been formed with the object of eliminating other unnecessary noises such as the cries of hawkers and the ringing of bicycle bells. However, no remedy has yet been evolved for the braying of donkeys and the grunting of camels—and there are lots of these quadrupeds around.
