Dr. David Feuchtwang, Chief Rabbi of Vienna, observed his seventieth birthday anniversary at the end of November. At his express request no celebrations were held.
Dr. Feuchtwang was born on November 27, 1864, in Nikolsburg, Moravia. He studied in Berlin and Vienna and was appointed rabbi of Nikolsburg in 1892 in succession to his father, Rabbi Meier Feuchtwang. He was appointed rabbi of Vienna in 1903, and in 1928, on the death of Chief Rabbi Chajes, was appointed to his present post.
He is the author of a number of works, including six volumes of sermons.
