Despite a permanent guard maintained by police at the orthodox synagogue here, anti-Semites succeeded in throwing petards, light bombs, into the interior. The explosions shattered all windows and damaged the interior. The bombers escaped.

Repeated attacks against the synagogue have been made in recent weeks. Stones were hurled through the windows and the walls were continually disfigured with swastikas.

Zurich Nazis suffered a setback recently when six of their members were sentenced to varying jail terms for insulting Jews in the streets of the city.

The attack on the synagogue is believed to be in retaliation for the jailing of Swiss Nazis.
