The fear that their business is about to be ruined by a growing campaign very similar to that now in progress in Germany and the principal slogan of which is that those who “buy of Jews are traitors to Austria,” has made Jewish businessmen in Austria most apprehensive as to their economic future.
This apprehension is greatly heightened by the fact that an “Aryan” propaganda enterprise has been distributing calendars, the recipients of which are urged to trade in “Aryan” shops exclusively, and to engage the services of “Aryan” lawyers only.
At the same time a new business directory has been issued, in the pages of which is printed an appeal to “Aryans” to “unite against exploitation by Jews.” The appeal is coincident with the continuing discharge of Jewish employees from non-Jewish enterprises.
