The fight against high rents in Palestine was extended from Tel Aviv to Jaffa when the court in the latter city ruled yesterday that the same ordinance protecting tenants from exorbitant rents is to be considered lawful also in Jaffa, a city adjoining Tel Aviv.

The court has nominated special officials to fix the maximum amount of rent which landlords in Jaffa should be authorized to demand. The maximum rental per room in Tel Aviv is ten dollars a month. This fee will probably be much smaller in Jaffa, where the buildings are all old and where there are no modern improvements.
